Favorite Things 2009

We had our 2nd annual Favorite Things party in the middle of July and it was a blast. There were great gifts and I've already used a bunch of them. It is so fun to get together with my best girls and just hang out, it's even better when gifts are involved.
Here are a few of the gifts and girls!
I was especially glad that Hill and Liz were both in town from Virginia at the same time and could both make it.
I sure miss you girls, I hope you can visit more often.

4th of July

We had a great holiday weekend. Bountiful does their fireworks on the 3rd so we all went to Carlee's house for a BBQ before the show. It was just what I needed to get me excited for the 4th! I haven't been around for the past 2 years because that has been when we've gone to Lake Powell, so I was especially excited. We started out the day with the annual Bowman's breakfast, where they serve mickey mouse, turtle, or dino print pancakes! (I must have been sleepy and forgot to open my eyes!)
Then we headed down to the parade. It was really nice because it was overcast during the parade so there wasn't the scorching heat to deal with. It was fun to see people from the neighborhood as well as spend time with my best girls!

Lucky for us the weather cleared up and the clouds burned away and we went swimming all afternoon. Then we headed back up to my parents house for a BBQ and to watch Kaysville's fireworks. It was a little disappointing that they had some technical difficulties with the music, but overall it was great.

After the fireworks we headed to the Winwards for the after-party! He always strings up his whole backyard with firecrackers and other fireworks and puts on a show! You can see it gets more popular each year, this year I think we were on the 3rd row!

As we were walking back from the fireworks to the Winwards I realized that I didn't have my phone. I put it in my camera "case/Sock" and it had fallen out. It was only 3 days old. Jake called it and luckily someone had turned it in to lost and found. I was so relieved!
I really the love the 4th for so many reasons:
Fireworks, BBQ's, Swimming, Parades, spending time with famiy and friends. What's not to love?

Park City

We had a great day last Saturday. A hole day with some of my best girls, it can't be beat.
We started off the day with brunch at Ruth's Diner. Delious Biscuits! Then headed up to PC for a day of fun and shopping.
We were going to ride the zipline but after we got done shopping and got to the resort the wait was too long and we had to get home. Lyndsi and Carlee decided to just enjoy the weather... While Al, Kell, and I decided to brave the Alpine Coaster! The line was long but it was totally worth it!
I've never actually ridden the alpine slide so I didn't really know what to expect. I'm told the coaster is way better. You can go as fast as you want with out the danger of serious road rash from falling off!

All in all it was a great day, and really fun to catch up with the girls!

Virginia!

I had such a good time in Virginia last week. I loved visiting with Nate, Hill, Claire, and Emme! We also got to go to Short Pump and have lunch with Liz, Danny, and Gavin. It was good to see some friends out there too! They have a cute little train at the mall that Hill and Claire rode in.

This was pretty much what Emme did the entire trip. She's so cute and cuddly!

And last but certainly not least...Claire is her latest sun gear! We couldn't resist the hat, it was so cute!

I already miss them so much and I wish that they lived closer, but I can't wait to see the Dahle's in a few weeks!

Crime at Church?

In the family ward in our neighborhood there was a crime spree today. Our neighbors told us all about it. Apparently while everyone was in the building, someone(s) was breaking in to all the cars in the parking lot and stealing the garage door openers and registrations (which had the address to the house.) Then they went to the different houses and stole anything they could find.
Crazy, huh!
Luckily my registration is still sent to my parents house so even if my registration was stolen they wouldn't come to my house. Sorry mom and dad!

Memorial Day!

I was reading my friend Natalie's blog and she had a great idea to post memories of grandparents that had passed away for a memorial day post. I love the idea so here it goes!

Grandma Hawks: She always made us eat all of our dinner, since Al and Hill were picky eaters they always had to sit at the table until they finished their meal. I never had to do that. It probably shows now! She was a lunch lady and knew the secret recipe of how to make lunch lady style peanut butter bars.

Grandpa Casey: He had such a bad back that he walked practically bent in half, but he always worked out in his yard. When he wasn't in his yard he was sitting in his rocking chair. I always thought it was funny that he and my grandma had separate bedrooms.

Grandpa Carter: I loved to visit him at the grocery store he worked at because he always bought us doughnuts. We would sleep over at his house and he would tell us the story of Farmer McGregor and Peter Cottontail in bed. He also loved to sing "starkle starkle little twink, who the heck are you I think" instead of twinkle twinkle. I think I loved it the most that he didn't think damn and hell were swears and liked to combine them to say "dammit to hell!"

Grandma Hazel: She lost her husband when she was in her thirties and never remarried. She was 108 when she died (she lived in 3 centuries!) and she was always really short, like under 5 foot. I think I out grew her by the time I was in 4th grade. She had the most amazing collection of salt and pepper shakers.

I really liked remembering these special people. Sorry if the post was long and boring!

School's Out For Summer!

So it's official, I am out of school for the summer. I have a lot of time on my hands since I'm not planning on working during the summer for the first time in years. I still have 5 weeks of classes spread out through the summer but I'm looking forward to spending some quality time by the pool and spending a week in Virginia with Hill.
Summer tan here I come!
